Iranian Ministry Statement on the Banned Import of French Cars:

According to the news website report, The Iranian Government of Industry, Mine, and Trade’s spokesman, Omid Qalibaf, stated that his ministry has banned the import of French automobiles in the country due to the unprofessional behavior of the French in the past years.
Qalibaf added by saying that the ministry has not issued any license for importing French cars over the several past months and has not informed about any time period when import will be open again. He also quoted by talking, Iran will not allow them (the French) to put pressure on Iran’s automobile industry and market with sanctions.
Did Iran ban the import of Cars Years Ago?
This is not the first time that the Iran has imposed a ban on the import of cars into the country. After more than four years, In July 2018, the Iranian government officially banned cars from being imported in the completely built unit (CBU) format, allowing only the completely knocked-down (CKD) format where the cars are imported in parts and not as assembled units. The government banned imports due to high import tariffs that were unaffordable to Iranians, and ostensibly to protect and encourage production for the local’s new limits had been imposed.
