Here is an interesting update, Türkiye wanted to enhance its military defense corporation with its neighbor country Bangladesh. According to Türkiye’s envoy, Ankara aims to increase defense cooperation with Bangladesh by producing weapons and related technology transfer. The Turkish ambassador stated to Dhaka, Mustafa Osman Turan, during a special Meet the Ambassador event hosted by the Centre for Governance Studies, a Bangladeshi think tank.

The ambassador said that defense cooperation is not only about selling more high-tech weapons but also about strategic cooperation, a Turkish company has already provided shell manufacturing technology to a local company. The envoy also highlighted developments of Turkish enterprises in the production of defense products in the last fifteen years.
Turan added that Bangladesh has acquired rocket launchers, drones, armored personnel carriers, and many other defense products from Türkiye and can now start manufacturing military equipment through a joint venture. In this way, they can enhance strategic cooperation through the Navy and Coast Guard.

In this regard, Türkiye has made several offers. the ambassador said We have proposed technology transfer for producing gasoline boats. If Bangladesh permits, nine gasoline boats would be constructed in Bangladesh’s Khulna and Chittagong provinces. More, Bangladesh bought various vehicle armor from Türkiye, which is one of the best armor security manufacturers, in this way Bangladesh develop its artillery capacity through defense cooperation purchases
Furthermore, in terms of energy, Türkiye would be happy to act as a transit nation for fuel supplies to Bangladesh. Bangladesh is facing a refugee crisis similar to the Rohingya refugee crisis. Ankara and Dhaka are trying to solve the Rohingya crisis through various international forums, especially the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the International Court of Justice.
