YouTube has introduced a new program that will allow kiters to monetization of its long-form videos with licensed music in 2023. Creator Music is launched by YouTube as a new destination that allows creators easy access to an ever-growing catalog of music for use in their videos that allow artists and music holders a new income stream for their music on YouTube.
Earn From YouTube Licensed Music:
Amjad Hanif, vice president of creator products at YouTube, said in a statement that “creators may now buy reasonable, high-quality music licenses, which will help them make a whole lot of money. Additionally, YouTube also says that creators who choose to license music through the hub “will keep the same income share they’d normally make on videos without any music. Creators who don’t want to buy a license first will be able to use the songs and share revenue with the track’s artists and other related rights holders.
YouTube Shorts Platform:
Also at the event, YouTube said that revenue sharing is also coming on YouTube shorts. Current and future YouTube Partner Program (YPP) artists will be eligible to share revenue from the shorts starting in 2023. According to YouTube, each month’s earnings from ads that run between videos in the Shorts Feed will be added together and used to reward Shorts creators and assist cover music licensing fees. YouTube claims that out of the total sum allocated to creators, they will keep 45% of the money, which will be dispersed based on their proportion of all Shorts views. Regardless of whether they incorporate music or not, revenue share remains the same.
Expanding YouTube Partner Program (YPP):
The company also announced that it is expanding the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), its monetization scheme, to enable more creators to join the program. From early 2023, creators focused on Shorts can apply to YPP by meeting the threshold of 1,000 subscribers and 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. YouTube will also unveil a new YPP with lower requirements which will provide instant access to fan funding features such as SuperThanks, SuperChat, SuperStickers, and channel subscriptions.
YouTube Merge Both Buttons:
Every video on YouTube has two options such as like and dislike, which will now be merged. Efforts are on to create a common button for sharing, creating, and downloading as well. The new design can also be compatible with Ambient Mode which allows the bottom of the video to bleed into the details section and system status bar for a more immersive experience.
